NCR Corporation, the global leader in consumer transaction technologies, announced today that German cooperative bank Volksbank Meßkirch eG has chosen NCR to help transform its flagship branch.

By deploying NCR cash recycling and deposit solutions that make banking easier for consumers, Volksbank Meßkirch will improve customer convenience and run its flagship branch more efficiently. The solution simplifies cash transactions and helps customers avoid queues when depositing cash.

Use of cash around the world is still on the increase, and Germany is a perfect example of an economy where consumers need access to cash for everyday transactions and businesses require convenient banking services to deposit revenues. In 2013, German consumers used cash for 54.4 percent of transactions and high levels of cash usage is predicted for many years to come1.

"Transformation of our flagship branch is important for Volksbank Meßkirch as we aim to provide a superior customer experience," said Karl Springindschmitten, managing director of Volksbank Meßkirch eG Raiffeisenbank. "The solutions deployed by NCR help us achieve this, as well as making the operation of the branch more efficient. In addition, the cash recycling solutions deployed are connected to the internet, so the cash deposited is transferred quickly and securely to customer accounts. Faster access to funds for both consumers and businesses increases satisfaction, which is good for everyone."

The NCR SelfServ 32 solutions deployed at Volksbank Meßkirch recycles deposited cash by then dispensing it from the same ATM. The cash recycling features of these ATMs will help Volksbank Meßkirch reduce costs by decreasing the number of cash deliveries required at branches and the time spent on cash replenishment by branch employees as cash refills are required less frequently.

As the official reseller of HESS Cash Systems in Germany, NCR has also deployed HESS coin deposit solutions at the Volksbank Meßkirch flagship branch. Business and consumers are able to easily deposit loose change without queuing for a cashier.

"Although the number of card payments is increasing in the German market, cash is still the most common payment method used by consumers. People like using cash as it is convenient and allows them to keep track of their finances," said Harald Heinz, Area Sales Leader for Finance at NCR and responsible for the D-A-CH region. "Banks, such as Volksbank Meßkirch, that are able to transform their branch experience for customers and offer quick cash deposit banking will increase customer satisfaction and improve operational efficiency."
