London Stock Exchange names Lester as CIO

The London Stock Exchange has appointed former Regus executive David Lester as chief information officer (CIO). He will take up the appointment on 18 June 2001.

Lester has been charged with maintaining, developing and exploiting the Exchange's technology and information services. His remit will also include developing further technology partnerships similar to that announced recently with Johannesburg.

Lester joins the Exchange from his position as CIO at Regus PLC. He previously served for five years at Primark where he was global product development director before co-running an Internet spin-out, marketeye.com.

His appointment coincides with the arrival of Phil Bruce from the London Clearing House, who has now joined the Exchange as head of corporate strategy.

The executive team also includes Clara Furse, chief executive, Martin Wheatley, deputy chief executive, Jonathan Howell, director of finance, Nick Gammage, director of communications and Andrew McStravick, director of operations.
