India's Vijaya Bank has begun the implementation of a new core banking platform from Infosys, using Wipro as prime contractor.
Under the contract, Wipro will manage the bank's 450 location WAN, data centre, disaster recovery centre, help desk and call centre. Wipro will also supply telephone banking and anti money laundering systems, in addition to Infosys' Finacle platform.
Finacle includes applications for banking, Internet banking, trade finance and CRM. The system is being used to power the bank's new core banking services for its concumer and corporate banking customers. Shri Kapur, chairman and MD, Vijaya Bank, comments: "This is the first of several new business and technology initiatives that Vijaya Bank plans to announce in the coming months."
The bank has gone live with the Finacle platform at its data centre as well as it corporate branch in Bangalore. Finacle will be rolled out across 10 branches in India by the end of April and to 360 additional branches over the next three years.
