CNBC.com upgrades personal investor portal

Financial information and analysis portal, CNBC.com, has enhanced its personal finance section with new tools, services and resources to help investors better manage their financial affairs.

The enhanced personal finance front page reorganizes news and feature stories according to categories such as retirement, mutual funds, loans, women's investing, insurance, taxes and small business.

New features allow investors to get competitive quotes from banks and insurance companies, find a personal advisor, compare rates, and obtain objective retirement research. Active message boards cover each of the personal finance categories, so users can exchange lay opinions. Users can also access a portfolio tracker, account aggregation, a new "detachable" ticker, and a comprehensive set of financial calculators.

CNBC.com partners include Bankrate.com, financeware.com, Insure.com, InsureConnection.com, LendingTree.com.

According to Media Metrix, CNBC.com attracted 1.2 million unique users in October 2000 and continues to be the Web's 'stickiest' financial news site. In that month each registered user spent an average of 29 minutes on the CNBC.com site and scrolled through more than 21 unique pages. In total, CNBC.com has more than 1.7 million registered users.

CNBC.com COO Bob Meyers says: "By leveraging the new tools, services and resources available from CNBC.com and its finance, insurance, and retirement partners, informed investors can examine if interest rates are competitive, insurance policies are sufficient and retirement plans will meet future needs."
