Abbey National subsidiary Scottish Provident is reporting a threefold increase in online applications from intermediaries following a concerted campaign to talk up the benefits of Internet submissions for self-assurance.

The ongoing campaign comprises of a team of three e-business development managers working alongside the Abbey National for Intermediaries sales teams.

Abbey National has also undertaken a programme of meetings with intermediaries to demonstrate how new business applications can be processed faster by registering online.

Hugo Thorman, director, intermediary propositions, Abbey National, says: "We are working to develop and extend this service because although in overall terms it still accounts for a small percentage of our new business, as a channel it is growing faster than more traditional methods."
