CBA shortlists five for NetBank redevelopment - AFR

The Australian Financial Review is reporting plans by the Commonwealth Bank to embark on a major redevelopment of its Internet banking site. Five suppliers are believed to have put in bids for the multi-million-dollar project.

The bank will make an announcement by mid-2003, says AFR, but Dublin-based Eontec is rumoured to be a front-runner for the contract.

The paper says the current NetBank platform was developed in the late 1990s and was only ever intended to service one million customers.

More than two million customers are now registered with NetBank.
