Aspace launches single-sign on software for multi-channel banks

UK-based retail banking systems vendor Aspace Solutions has launched 4Tress, a new single sign-on authentication and authorisation product for multi-channel banking, and lined up Cheshire Building Society as its first customer.

The new product will enable banks and building societies to offer customers access to their accounts with a single set of user details, regardless of the channel they use, says the company.

The solution is built around a hardware security module from nCipher which allows administrative responsibilities to be shared across multiple users. An end-to-end audit trail protects the financial services firm against unauthorised transactions from both inside and outside the company, says Aspace.

Paul Gilmore, technical director of Aspace Solutions, says: "The vision we have at Aspace is to develop an end-to-end banking solution that can be run on either a hosted or licensed basis. 4Tress is the first module to be released and we envisage rolling out additional elements in the near future."

The vendor is currently in discussions with Cheshire Building Society for the deployment of 4Tress across its operations.

Colin Whittle, CEO of Cheshire Building Society, comments: "We decided that rather than simply bolt on an e-commerce solution to our existing technology, we would undergo a comprehensive restructuring. By using 4Tress as an integral part of this, we will be able to offer our customers unparalleled convenience, regardless of whether they are contacting us by phone, over the internet or in person at the branch."

Implementation is due to start in July and will take about three months to complete.
