Townsend Analytics moves to Microsoft .NET

Townsend Analytics, the Chicago-based developer of the Archipelago electronic communciations network (ECN), has redesigned its customer toolkit based on Microsoft .NET technology.

The revamped TAL Toolkit will enable companies listed on the upcoming Archipelago Exchange to access market data, including last sale price, per cent change and analysis of historical trading patterns, directly from the exchange and post the data instantaneously on their corporate intranet.

Archipelago was recently approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission to become the first totally open, fully electronic stock market for New York Stock Exchange, American Stock Exchange, and Nasdaq securities in the United States. The Pacific Exchange will perform regulatory functions for the Archipelago Exchange as well as the issuer listing and qualification process.

Townsend Analytics has also revamped its Risk Manager software for the Microsoft .NET Framework. Risk Manager assists broker/dealers in monitoring market value and equity for their numerous accounts to detect at-risk accounts. Customers will see faster speeds of up to 300 per cent when retrieving data, says the company.

Stuart Townsend, president of Townsend Analytics, notes: "Development time saved using the TAL Toolkit for Microsoft .NET can range from 20 per cent to 50 per cent."

The TAL Toolkit for Microsoft .NET has been rolled out internally and to selected clients on beta version. The toolkit will be released to all customers within one month of the launch of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET.
