Australia's Westpac Banking Corporation has appointed Michael Coomer as group executive, e-IT & operations.
Coomer will take up his position at the end of January, in which he will be responsible for information technology, e-business, outsourcing governance and all back-office operations and support for Westpac.
Coomer joins the bank from IT firm Adacol, where he was director. He previously was executive general manager of corporate and e-business strategy at National Australia Bank. He has also worked for IBM Global Services, Ansett Transport Industries and Rockwell International.
David Morgan, Westpac Banking Corporation's CEO, says: "Michael has a breadth of experience that will strengthen our focus on information technology, e-business and customer service through our back-office systems efficiency."
