Google smartwatch users can now use the timepiece to check their account balances with Nationwide Building Society.
The UK financial services provider has added the Android Wear facility to its mobile banking app, enabling members to speak to their watch to pull up real-time account balances on the go.
Shopaholic customers will have to fork out up to £120 for the smart-but-clunky timepieces, and must still carry their mobile device in order to communicate with the Nationwide app.
Tony Prestedge, chief operating officer at Nationwide says: “Providing customers with a variety of ways to manage their money, whenever and how ever they want is a priority for us. Giving those members who want and have the technology the ability to check their balance on their watch provides them with even more choice as to how they interact with us whether it is online, through an app, face-to-face or over the phone.”
