Capita integrates Barclays Pingit

Outsourcing giant Capita is tapping Barclays Pingit to let its clients in the public and private sectors receive payments made via the mobile app.

The integration means that 310 UK organisations that use Capita's payments services will be able to offer their customers Pingit as an alternative to telephone and Internet payments.

Services such as council tax, rent or waste collection can be paid for by customers scanning the QR code printed on their bill using a smartphone or tablet or even at 150 Barclays QR scanning ATMs. Students will be able to pay for their course fees, exam re-sits, trips and accommodation through their phones.

Capita says that Pingit will update systems with details of who has paid for what, with no need for any rekeying of data, making it easier and quicker for its clients to receive and track payments. Details of transactions will be recorded within Capita's income management system.

Jon Peart, payments director, software services business, Capita, says: It is important that we provide our clients with payment solutions that allow their customers to make payments in the way they want to. Adding Pingit to our range of mobile payment solutions was an obvious choice for us and we look forward to rolling out additional functionality later this year."
