ASB launches augmented reality recruitment app

New Zealand's ASB has unveiled a 3D augmented reality app aimed at job candidates looking for positions in its corporate banking team.

The app - built by digital agency One Fat Sheep - promises to provide job seekers a virtual, interactive digital experience, bringing an advert to life with a 3D video when it's scanned by a phone or tablet.

The iOS and Android app also includes CV writing and interview tips, plus the ability to register interest in open roles at ASB.

Steve Jurkovich, executive GM, corporate, commercial and rural, says: "As the saying goes, it is now definitely a case of fact being stranger than fiction. Scotty would like the augmented reality app that's for sure!

"It captures your imagination and your attention, while redefining recruitment as we know it. It's a perfect fit considering we are determined to redefine banking for big business in this country."

Phew, I'm relieved that the app will stick to quaint old AR use cases like "bringing an advert to life". In this day and age of Google Glass and Facebook Oculus, after reading the headline and the boldfaced intro text, I thought you could point your smartphone at someone in the bank's corporate banking team and the app would tell you all you need to know about their job description, qualification, experience and how to get recruited to their job.
