Amid allegations that the Oz government has been spying on the Indonesian president, a member of Anonymous Indonesia has claimed responsibility for an attack on the Reserve Bank of Australia Web site.
The RBA has confirmed that it was hit by a distributed denial of service attack overnight but says that "the bank's websites and systems remain secure". The Australian Federal Police says it was also targeted.
The attacks come in the wake of revelations made in the Guardian, based on documents from NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, which show that in 2009 Australia tried to tap the phone of Indonesia's president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and other officials.
The Australian media has identified the Twiiter account of someone claiming responsibility for the attacks, using hashtags including #IndonesiaCyberArmy and #OpGovAu.
