Commonwealth Bank of Australia has employed a team of design consultants to refurbish its Melbourne call centre in an effort to inspire staff working on intense, monotous tasks.
Working in collaboration with Interior Designers Davenport Campbell, the environments team from Australian design consultancy Frost were commissioned to animate the call centre interiors in a bid to distract staff from the day-to-day drudgery of their work. Working with with New York based illustrator James Gulliver Hancock, Frost created super-sized environmental graphic backdrops that added a distinctly Melbourne identity to the inner-city office. The concept involved visually breaking up the building's floor plate by referencing urban-laneway culture in work zones compared to parklands and nature in the break-out spaces.
