JPMorgan taps Apprenda platform-as-a-service for application portfolio

JPMorgan Chase has selected 'platform-as-a-service' vendor Apprenda to develop, deliver and manage its portfolio of internal applications, custom-built in .NET and Java.

Apprenda's private platform has been deployed at production sites around the world and across growing server clusters already totaling several terabytes of memory. More than 430 development teams at the bank are using it for 2000 .NET and Java applications, which are now running live.

The vendor says that its platform, plugged into JP Morgan Chase's existing IT infrastructure, modernised it as a way to catapult the firm's next generation internal private cloud for both their .NET and Java applications.

As well as providing guaranteed availability and global failover, the technology is designed to remove the friction between developers and IT through single-click application deployment and the isolation of developers and their applications from the infrastructure.

In addition, application deployment has been cut at the bank from many weeks to fewer than five minutes a pop while an internal 'pay as you go' model helps to keep costs down, boasts Apprenda.

Guy Chiarello, CIO, JPMorgan Chase, says: "JPMorgan Chase needed an enterprise grade private cloud solution to accelerate our time to market for applications, improve our infrastructure efficiency and increase our developer productivity. We are pleased with our selection of Apprenda's product suite and look forward to realizing benefits across our global portfolio."
