Temenos trio jump ship to form new company

A group of Temenos executives have quit the Swiss core banking vendor and set up as new outfit hawking customer channel experience technology.

London-based, privately held Ubiquiem is the brainchild of ex-Temenos execs Gareth Jones, Tony Coleman and Marc Vernet.

The firm says its aim is to offer financial services companies "channel solutions that concentrate on enhancing bank customers' experience" with a focus on Internet and mobile banking, client acquisition and personal finance management.

It has tapped technology from Red Hat, IBM and VMWare to build the Tornado suite. The first product, for customer acquisition system will launch this month with online and mobile offerings promised by the end of the quarter.

Gareth Jones, sales director, Ubiquiem, says: "It's surprising that while newer channels have moved from being 'alternative' to mainstream, the user experience, on the whole, is poor. In a climate where we are all more sceptical of having a 'relationship' with a bank, this is a major issue".
