Acquisitions are now part of Swift's 2015 'toolkit'

Interbank co-operative Swift says it could be in the market for more acquisitions following its recent deal to acquire SunGard's Ambit Messaging Hub gateway product.

In a video interview with Finextra, Arun Aggarwal, MD, UK, Ireland and Nordics at Swift says the SunGard deal fits the Society's 2015 Strategy plan, which is designed to give the company additional flexibility in pursuing more commercially and client focused activities.

According to Aggarwal, possible future acquisitions may come from the matching space.

However, he declined to go into more detail on which companies Swift was looking at or when the industry might expect the next acquisition.

Swift struck its first deal under the 2015 strategy in July, when it announced plans to buy SunGard's Ambit Messaging Hub, which offers banks and corporates a high volume interface to the international financial messaging network.. That product will be renamed the Advanced Messaging Hub, under Swift, keeping the AMH acronym.
