FirstOntario Credit Union is rolling out video ATMs developed by uGenius Technology that let customers talk live to staff through the machines.

The personal assistant teller (PAT) machines include wide-view camera and private and public audio capabilities with echo cancellation, meaning customers can see and talk to staff in real time.

Kelly McGiffin, CEO, FirstOntario, told the Globe and Mail that the technology will help cut lineups and allow for longer hours, with customers able to contact staff outside normal branch hours.

The first machine will be installed next week, with more to follow later this year.
