Autonomy signs Dutch Central Bank

UK software house Autonomy says the Dutch Central Bank, De Nederlandsche Bank, has signed a deal to licence its information management software.

Autonomy says the bank will implement its Intelligent Data Operating Layer (Idol) application.

Idol sits above a firm's data and enables the automatic categorisation, tagging, linking, retrieval and profiling of unstructured information in real-time.

The system automatically analyses information from different content formats, including text, voice or video and delivers over 700 functions including hyperlinking, agents, summarisation, taxonomy generation, retrieval, channels, clustering, eduction, profiling, collaboration and alerting.

Earlier this year Cambridge-based Autonomy said that it stands to benefit from the subprime mortgage crisis as US banks look to implement data retrieval technology for legal and regulatory reasons.

At the time Autonomy chief executive Mike Lynch cited a recent $70 million contract with an un-named global bank as evidence that organisations are accelerating plans "in order to be prepared for the consequences engendered by recent events".
