OMX, the Swedish technology group and Nordic and Baltic market operator, says it is exploring "business opportunities" among the exchanges in Eastern Europe.
OMX says its integration of the Nordic and Baltic marketplace into the Nordic Exchange has raised interest among other exchange organisations across Europe.
The group says it is holding discussions with shareholders of exchanges in Eastern Europe about possible acquisition opportunities. But OMX stresses that it is too early to say where these discussions will lead.
The initial talks could also result in sales of consultancy services and technology or other forms of partnerships, says OMX.
