Argentina's Banco Rio signs for Diebold ATMs

Argentina-based Banco Rio has ordered more than 300 self-service ATMs from Diebold which it will roll out across its national branch network.

The order includes Diebold's Opteva ATMs, which operate on the vendor's Agilis software platform - an open system that allows multiple vendors' terminals and technologies to co-exist on an ATM network.

Diebold says the agreement with Banco Rio also includes a contract to service Banco Rio's entire multi-vendor self-service network through to August 2007.

Commenting on the deal, Miguel Angel Fernandez, manager of automated banking in Banco Rio's commercial division, says: "Diebold's self-service terminals will allow us to expand our visibility and strengthen our brand message, while increasing customer touch-points across the country."

Miguel Mateo, vice president of Diebold Latin America, adds: "The increased functionality of our terminals not only increases revenue opportunities, but also makes the self-service channel a viable alternative to constructing and staffing new branches."
