Equant wins Arab Bank IP-VPN contract

Equant wins Arab Bank IP-VPN contract

Jordan-based Arab Bank Group has signed a three year contract, worth $7m, for the supply and implementation of an Internet Protocol virtual private network (IP-VPN) to connect 20 sites around the world.

The contract was secured by Equant's local partner Jordan Data Communications (JDC). The win follows a four month consultancy project conducted by JDC and Equant at Arab Bank sites in Amman, Dubai, London and Paris.

The bank decided to upgrade its 14 frame relay sites to a 19-site fully managed Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based IP-VPN netwrk with Equant Voice for IP VPN at 12 voice deregulated sites.

Equant says connecting all 19 sites with the IP-VPN will bring Arab Bank the advantage of IP convergence, including having all types of traffic - including voice - on the same infrastructure. The bank can also prioritise voice and video traffic, as well as its mission-critical applications.
