Santander UK plc has selected WorkAngel to provide its innovative reward and recognition platform to its Corporate and Commercial customers.

The introducer agreement – which launched last week – will allow businesses to benefit from a three-month trial of the rewards-based platform, with employees receiving exclusive corporate rate discounts and cashback on online shopping.

WorkAngel is a fast-growing UK-based start-up that provides businesses with a digital platform – desktop and mobile – to increase employee engagement and retention through recognition, social communication, and employee benefits. Santander is the latest company to join some of the UK’s largest businesses using the WorkAngel platform, including Tesco Hospitality, Serco, Capita, Worldpay, and Ceridian.

Stephen Dury, Managing Director, SME Markets and Business Development at Santander Corporate & Commercial, comments: “From working closely with ambitious businesses we can see the benefit of effective employee engagement and retention on business growth and success. The innovative digital service offered by WorkAngel is designed to help businesses engage and reward their teams which is why we are delighted to increase the support we can offer our customers through this new introducer agreement.”

Jamie True, Founder and CEO of WorkAngel, comments: “Employee engagement has become a key challenge facing global businesses, with 87% of respondents to a 2015 Deloitte study on culture and engagement believing the issue is “important”. With poor communication of benefits estimated to cost UK businesses £2.7billion per year, employee engagement should be at the top of any businesses agenda – large or small – to ensure the greatest chance of success.”

“By offering a platform that can be easily accessed through desktop and mobile, employees of Santander’s Corporate & Commercial customers now have the opportunity to use the latest cutting edge technology to access exclusive and corporate discounts. As mobile becomes ubiquitous – with more than 2.1 billion global smartphone users – it is essential for forward-thinking companies to deploy mobile-first solutions. This agreement with Santander is the first of its kind, signaling the financial services provider’s commitment to supporting the UK business ecosystem.”
