The Western Union Company, a leader in global payment services, activated in-bound Western Union Money Transfer service into Greece, allowing customers to receive funds into their bank accounts from family or loved ones from 31 countries across North America, Europe, CIS and Asia Pacific.

Western Union re-activated its Direct to Bank service to Greece to allow for funds to reach its population from overseas.

Western Union Money Transfers will be credited based on the agreed send value into the bank accounts of customers; but the €60 per transaction per customer per day withdrawal limits imposed by the Greek Government will continue to apply.

Western Union is seeking to expand its in-bound payout locations while also seeking to restore full service on its domestic and outbound business as soon as practicable.

“This is a tremendous breakthrough, paving the way for family and loved ones across the globe to send money to their home community, particularly during more difficult financial circumstances,” said Giovanni Angelini, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Europe at Western Union.
