Chilean footy stadiums kick around MasterCard Qkr!

For the first time in Latin America, MasterCard rolled out in Chile a digital payment and shopping technology present in world-class stadiums.

Called Qkr!, the app is available for Android and iOS devices and was developed by the company internationally under the “quicker” concept to make online shopping faster. This technology provides customers with faster, more convenient and secure transactions at places such as sports stadiums so customers can skip lines altogether. A success in countries like the US, Australia and Canada, now fans of Chile’s national soccer team can also enjoy this new way to order food and beverages.

“This is a cutting-edge payment option that we are proud to offer. The app is available for download and may be used to order food at all matches taking place at the National, River Plate and La Portada stadiums effective June 15. We would like to invite people to take this opportunity to have a truly convenient experience at the opening match of our national team against Ecuador and test the app, which is fully operational and responsive”, said Patricio Sandoval, general manager of MasterCard Chile.

How it works

Download Qkr! to your Android or iOS device to place your orders and pay for food quickly and efficiently using a mobile phone or tablet. The app can be downloaded for free from either app stores and only requires users to register their credit card information to pay with just the touch of a finger.

To not miss any goals at the Copa América 2015 matches coming up, after you download the app simply place your order from the menu provided by the tournament caterer, Vive Snack. Customers placing their orders via Qkr! will receive 20% off on all food and combo selections.

You only need to register once and your data will be stored safely for future purchases on Qkr! After you place an order, the app lets you choose either in-seat delivery or express pick-up options, so you can always skip the lines at the Vive Snack concession stands. The estimated in-seat delivery time is 20 minutes, but previous tests have had lower average waiting times.

The app should be operational during the Copa América tournament as a first phase for the majority of the stadium’s Category 1 seats; people will be able to check the availability for their seats when they get to the stadium. Qkr! by MasterCard is not an app exclusively for use during Copa América and customers will be able to use this digital convergence tool in the near future at some points of sale throughout Chile. MasterCard is holding talks with movie theater and fast-food chains to make Qkr! widely available on the Chilean market.
