In anticipation of our separation from eBay Inc. later this year, I’m delighted to announce that two seasoned, experienced and talented executives will be joining PayPal’s senior leadership team – Louise Pentland, who joins as General Counsel; and Jonathan Auerbach, who will serve as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Growth.

Louise is the former Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at Nokia Corporation where she played a key role in the sale of Nokia’s handset business to Microsoft. As General Counsel at PayPal, she will be responsible for making sure that we operate in compliance with financial and regulatory requirements wherever we do business.

Louise offers incredible legal and commercial knowledge along with a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion. With this combination, she will play a central role in helping us reach our ambitious goals for growth without ever losing sight of the regulatory and legal obligations our customers trust us to uphold, or the values we share with them.

Jonathan brings strong business insights and deep international leadership experience to his new role as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Growth. He will have responsibility for Strategy, Business Development and M&A. Jonathan comes to PayPal from Singtel where, as CEO of Group Digital Life, he was responsible for Singtel’s global portfolio of digital businesses, and led Innov8, Singtel’s $250 million corporate venture fund. Prior to that, he worked for 26 years at McKinsey & Company. In his tenure at McKinsey, he held a wide range of leadership roles including leading the North America and Asia tech practices and the South East Asia offices.

Jonathan’s role will be to identify new opportunities to drive growth with merchants and consumers around the world. He will focus on developing a global strategy that aligns our work with our vision to make the management and movement of money simpler as we become the operating system for digital commerce.

I believe that Louise and Jonathan, together with the entire PayPal team, have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to enhance the financial freedom, flexibility and opportunity of hundreds of millions of people by transforming the movement and management of their money around the world.
