CardFlight, a leader in mobile point of sale (POS) technology announced today the availability of EMV-ready chip card readers for its SwipeSimple mobile point of sale solution.

The United States is in the process of migrating to the EMV chip card standard, with a liability shift occurring in October 2015 that provides incentives for merchants to upgrade their payment terminals to devices capable of reading chip cards.  "While some providers have announced plans to offer mobile EMV card readers, CardFlight is one of the first to actually make them available for purchase and deployment in the United States," said Derek Webster, Founder and CEO of CardFlight.

Deploying EMV chip card solutions requires a rigorous set of integrations, certifications and approvals.  CardFlight is already in certification testing with multiple leading processors and expects to achieve full certification with multiple providers during the second quarter of 2015.

"By offering the EMV-ready readers today, CardFlight's partners can be confident that they are giving their merchants future-proof hardware that will last well beyond the October 2015 EMV liability shift," Webster added.  The readers also contain an encrypted magnetic stripe reader, which allow merchants to accept payments on cards that do not contain an EMV chip or if their processor isn't yet fully supported for EMV transactions.

The EMV-ready card readers pair with CardFlight's SwipeSimple mobile POS solution.  Launched in 2014, SwipeSimple includes encrypted mobile card readers, payment acceptance applications for iOS and Android devices, a real-time reporting and admin dashboard for merchants, and a reseller portal for easy onboarding and portfolio management.  Transactions are processed through CardFlight's PCI-DSS Level 1 Compliant payment gateway.

SwipeSimple is a product of CardFlight, Inc., although CardFlight does not sell the product to merchants directly.  Rather, SwipeSimple is offered by a network of dozens of resellers including leading banks, merchant service providers and independent sales organizations.  The solution can be co-branded or white-labeled to feature each reseller's logo and other pertinent details.

Additionally, the company is announcing that POS Portal will be a launch partner in distributing CardFlight's EMV-ready solutions.  POS Portal has rapidly become the industry leading hardware provider over the past 15 years, and proudly serves household names like BBVA Compass, Capital One and Wells Fargo.   POS Portal's bi-coastal distribution facilities ship over 1,200 POS devices every day to merchants nationwide, and CardFlight's EMV-ready readers will be the first EMV-ready mobile card reader solution that POS Portal is offering.  "CardFlight and POS Portal already serve many of the same customers.  We're excited to now offer their EMV-ready solutions to the hundreds of our partners that rely on us every day for hardware procurement and deployment," said Joe Villamil, VP Business Development at POS Portal.
