Klarna, the leading European online checkout solution has announced today its next step in its UK expansion.

Klarna’s payment solution is now available to users of the UK’s leading eCommerce website solution, ekmPowershop, which powers one in five online stores in the UK.

Across the UK, 30,000 online small businesses can access Klarna’s simple-to-use payment solution. Using Klarna, consumers visiting an ekmPowershop can complete purchases without entering card details and mobile shoppers can experience one-click purchases. Shoppers will also benefit from Klarna’s ‘buy-now, pay-later’ option, meaning they will be able to receive their goods and pay 14 days later, interest free.

“We are immensely proud to be working with the clear market leader in eCommerce solutions,” Paul Stephens, Head of UK Channel Management at Klarna, explains. “As a platform experiencing such an impressive increase in customers every month, they are certainly destined for success.”

The ekmPowershop platform already offers a fully functional mCommerce experience, accessible on all smartphone devices. The new integration with Klarna ties in perfectly with this, allowing merchants to achieve up to 60 – 70 per cent conversion rates on mobile, compared with the industry standard of just three per cent.

Steven Hickey, Head of Business Development at ekmPowershop, says: “Payment gateways struggle with fitting into the mobile space. Klarna effectively turns this whole process on its head, making the mobile sales funnel the most efficient.”

One of the first platforms to go live with Klarna Checkout in the UK, ekmPowershop fuels Klarna’s expansion and success across the country.

Hickey adds: “We are looking forward to the next 12 months when we expect to see a boost in sales for our online shops as a result of Klarna Checkout.”

Founded in 2002, ekmPowershop has grown to become the UK’s largest eCommerce provider, signing up to a 1,000 new sites every month. Now available in six countries, the platform has helped over 30,000 businesses, large and small, to create easy to use online shops. Clients of ekmPowershop include O2, Michelin Tyres, The Mirror, Lotus Cars, Prudential and thousands of SMEs.

As well as the partnership with ekmPowershop, Klarna also recently launched with the official online store for The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) star, Amy Childs, owned and managed by Celebrity Fashion Clothing. Klarna was also recently recognised at the 2014 Payments Awards and was awarded ‘Best Online Payments Solution – Consumer’. Klarna received industry recognition for providing a secure, flexible and innovative online payment solution that allows retailers to focus on growing business.

To date, 25 million customers have used Klarna Group services and 45,000 registered merchants, including Spotify, Vista Print, Marks & Spencer and ASOS in Germany, have benefited from the increased conversion rates it delivers.
