MePIN joins Fido Alliance

MePIN / Meontrust Inc has joined the Fido Alliance to advance the global adoption of strong authentication.

The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance is a non-profit organization nominally formed in July 2012 to address the lack of interoperability among strong authentication devices as well as the problems users face with creating and remembering multiple usernames and passwords. The FIDO Alliance includes more than 130 member companies, including Google, MasterCard, Microsoft, and PayPal, to name a few.

"We are excited to welcome our newest associate member MePIN / Meontrust Inc," said Michael Barrett, FIDO Alliance president. "The FIDO vision of universal strong authentication promises better security, enhanced privacy, more commerce and expansion of services throughout digital industries. MePIN's addition to our Alliance supports our industry goal to make user authentication easier and safer for all parties."

Markku Mehtälä, CEO and co-founder of MePIN, stated: "Meontrust Inc is committed to build MePIN as a future-proof authentication technology and security service. We will support industry standards and collaborate to make them better."

MePIN plans to add FIDO protocol support into their products and to participate in the FIDO Ready™ testing program to help ensure the MePIN app, and other apps built with the MePIN SDK, are interoperable with the rest of the FIDO ecosystem. For the usability of consumer grade authentication and security solutions, it is important that users can use any personal trusted device as an authentication device.
