Salamanca Group, the Merchant Banking and Operational Risk Management business, announces the appointment of Rory Innes as Head of Cyber Security.

Rory joins from Dell SecureWorks, a subsidiary of Dell Inc., where he was responsible for the sales and marketing of information security services across the EMEA region.

As Head of Cyber Security at Salamanca Group, Rory will lead the team in protecting clients from the increasing threat of cyber attack, an issue which is currently costing UK companies and the UK government around £26 billion a year. The global team provides 24/7 fully managed services and professional services to support organisations in response to cyber threat and ensure a strong security and compliance posture is maintained. The Cyber Security division forms part of the Group's Corporate Risk Services business comprised of Corporate Risk Management, Cyber Security and Maritime Security. Corporate Risk Services focuses on enabling business and protecting key assets such as people, reputation, networks and share value around the globe.

Prior to joining Salamanca Group, Rory was the Sales and Marketing Director at Dell SecureWorks, where he was responsible for all demand generation and sales operations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has extensive experience of managing teams across these regions and growing information security organisations. Rory started his career at the award winning dns Ltd which became one of the fastest growing technology firms in the UK. In 2009 SecureWorks acquired dns and Rory was responsible for leading marketing across Europe.

Commenting on the appointment, Martin Bellamy, CEO of Salamanca Group, said: "We launched the Cyber Security division last year in the face of evolving threats to information systems generally and growing demand from our current clients for advice suited to their businesses and lifestyles. Rory's extensive track record of understanding customer challenges and leading global teams at a formidable organisation like Dell SecureWorks will complement the skills in our existing team. He is an extremely valluable addition to the business and we are delighted that he has come on board."

Rory Innes added: "Many organisations are struggling with the rapidly changing threat landscape and the burden of compliance and legislation. They often don't have the necessary skills to run an effective information security operation in house which has potentially damaging results. We can help clients to invest wisely in information security and get the most out of the technology they have by evolving their current people and processes. This is an exciting time to join Salamanca Group, a company that can draw on a diverse range of skills to protect and enable its clients in an increasingly complex and interconnected business environment."
