First Data Corporation, the global leader in electronic commerce and payment processing, today announced that Marc Overton has been appointed co-General Manager (GM) of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Head of the regions Retail Payments Solutions (RPS) business effective from today.
Overton will work alongside Roger Bracken, co-GM and Head of the Financial Services business, in the region and both men will report into President of the International Regions, John Elkins.
Overton joins First Data from EE, the company that runs Orange and T-Mobile in the UK, where he held the position of Vice President of Wholesale and Machine 2 Machine (M2M). Prior to this, Overton held senior roles at leading mobile and telecommunications companies including Orange, Wanadoo and Three (Hutchison 3G).
Bracken has 25 years experience in the IT industry in Europe, specifically focused on the retail banking industry. He has been with First Data since 2007 and has been responsible for a number of the organisation's international businesses during this time. Prior to joining First Data, he held several senior roles within the European Financial Solutions Division of NCR, a global technology company, including serving as UK Chairman.
John Elkins, President, International Regions, First Data, commented: "Marc brings a wealth of experience and successful performance in the mobile and telecommunications industry to First Data. As the payments industry continues to evolve, mobile will play a much bigger role and Marc and Roger's combined and demonstrable experience will be critical to how First Data advances in this market."
Overton's appointment follows First Data's unveiling of its Clover™ Station earlier this month at Money2020 in Las Vegas. The next generation point-of-sale (POS) and business management solution, developed for small and mid-sized businesses, is powered by intuitive, cloud-hosted software that comes with everything a business owner needs in one convenient package and is ready to work right out of the box.
Marc Overton, Head of Retail Payment Solutions and Co-General Manager, EMEA, First Data, added: "I am thrilled to be joining First Data at such an exciting time for both the business and the industry as a whole. Much has been said about the convergence between payments and mobile to support connected solutions and a Universal Commerce environment. And First Data, with over 5,000 staff supporting over 500,000 retail clients, 50 million cardholders and 10,000 ATM's in the EMEA region, is brilliantly placed to make these conversations a reality."
