SumUp API integrated with mobile platform for German artisans

SumUp, the company that enables merchants to take debit and credit payments with their smartphones, has struck a deal that will see its API integrated with a mobile software platform used by 10,000 artisans and repair-people across Germany.

The TopReparatur platform, developed by blue: solution software, allows users to track, manage and create contracts for hands-on work. TopReparatur is especially useful for firms with multiple artisans/repair-people, as the platform can be managed from a central console and jobs provisioned to workers while they're in the field.

Users access blue: solution's TopReparatur platform via paid-for iOS and Android smartphone apps. The incorporation of the SumUp API into those apps means that users can now take debit and credit card payments for their work as soon as a job is finished. Once payment has been taken—using the SumUp API and free card reader—the payee is sent a detailed invoice via SMS or email.

Stefan Jeschonnek, CEO of SumUp, commented: "The kind of independent crafts and repair-people that use TopReparatur are exactly who we imagined helping when we launched SumUp. Blue: solution needed a partner with a cost-effective mobile payments platform capable of scaling with their rapidly-expanding userbase. We were delighted to be able to meet those requirements while also radically simplifying their users' working lives and improving their cash flow in the process."

Ralf Ruschoff, CEO of blue: solution, commented: "Many of our users spend far more time producing paperwork and chasing payment after a job has been completed than they would like to. Thanks to SumUp they can now simply cut this hassle out of their working lives by 'settling up' on-site at the end of a job. Offering this service has allowed us to strengthen our bonds with our users, and allowed them to strengthen their bonds with their customers - customers who typically want to pay straight away and in the most convenient way possible."

SumUp has also partnered with the likes of Taxi.de, roc.Kasse, DaWanda, and 9Flats in Germany in the past couple of months.
