FSMLabs today introduced the TimeKeeper GrandMaster Clock, a network appliance that simplifies the adoption of high-precision timing.

Employing the industry-standard Solarflare SFN6322F Dual-Port 10GbE SFP+ Onload precision time-synchronization server adapter, the TimeKeeper GrandMaster Clock offers low-latency, high-throughput connectivity to 10Gb Ethernet (10GbE) and other network standards. The solution also offers all the benefits of TimeKeeper Server, the groundbreaking software for time synchronization and timing network management.

TimeKeeper GrandMaster Clock overcomes the typical obstacles to implementing state-of-the-art time management, particularly on legacy infrastructure. It offers optimal connection with networks of varying quality to monitor and synchronize multiple time sources, and distribute high-precision time. It supports different time-signal protocols among disparate network segments. It synchronizes time - to microsecond precision in high-performance networks - across data centers and virtualized environments, while automatically identifying and repairing timing faults.

"Timing fluctuations as small as a few microseconds can trigger costly errors in high-speed trading, and leave little or no forensic evidence in traditional time distribution systems. Many firms have been living with these risks because of the complexity and costs of establishing state-of-the-art time management on legacy infrastructure. The TimeKeeper GrandMaster meets these challenges with a single, comprehensive solution," said Victor Yodaiken, CEO of FSMLabs. "It can be implemented immediately on existing infrastructure, and it scales out easily to support local or enterprise-wide time precision."

Leveraging the intelligent features and flexibility of the Solarflare SFN6322F server adapter, the TimeKeeper GrandMaster Clock offers features not found in any other approach to precision timekeeping, including the following:
• Unmatched message rates and low-latency eliminate queuing delays and time errors caused by slower connections
• Timestamping of incoming and outgoing packets, supporting latency monitoring plus identification of timing inconsistencies in data from outside sources, such as market data
• Large data storage capacity for historical audit trails to conform with reporting regulations

TimeKeeper software, the financial industry standard in high-precision time management, provides the robust features necessary for time-critical environments. These include "last mile" time service to the application layer, auditable logs and graphic visualization of performance, fault alerts and resiliency through failover to back-up time sources if a primary source fails, and web-based administration for configuration and real-time monitoring.
