Banco de Venezuela is expanding its existing network of automated teller machines and bringing its installed systems up to date with state-of-the-art software applications as part of an order Wincor Nixdorf has now been awarded by the country's leading public bank.

Installation of the total of 500 ATMs will commence in October and is scheduled for completion in six months. After the systems have been installed, Wincor Nixdorf will take responsibility for their maintenance.

After installing more than 140 ATMs last year with modules for automated check processing, and following positive customer feedback, the bank is adding a further 300 systems on which checks can be deposited. The new multifunctional devices also enable self-service passbook transactions.

Wincor Nixdorf's automated teller machines with an intelligent deposit function shorten the entire cash and check handling process. Cash and checks are validated using the latest image processing technology. The entire posting process that follows is automated from end to end. There is no longer any need to process checks or cash manually. The solution is particularly user-friendly and convenient due to the fact that bundles of cash and checks can be deposited in a single input slot.

Apart from software applications to operate the systems, Banco de Venezuela is also updating the remote monitoring software solution for all installed systems. After that has been completed, the bank will then monitor around 2080 ATMs, including competitors' systems, using Wincor Nixdorf's ProView software.
