The credit union will be closed on Friday, July 1, 2011 while this change occurs. First Credit Union will also be closed on Monday, July 4, 2011 in observance of Independence Day.

Online account access will not be available during the conversion. Specifically, online bill pay, online banking, mobile banking and telephone banking will not be available starting close of business June 30 until the conversion is completed.

According to Jay Curtis, President and CEO of First Credit Union, "Converting to a new core processing system has been a long time in the making. Both our members and our employees will enjoy all the new SymitarTM Episys system has to offer. This comprehensive and integrated system will ultimately help us better serve our members."

The core processing system is more or less the operating system for any financial institution. It houses and processes all data and transactions. Converting to a new system is a big deal. In fact, that is the theme First Credit Union used to inform members of the change, "It's a Big Deal!"

First Credit Union began notifying members of the conversion in February 2011. Conversion communication to members included information on the First Credit Union website, printed and online Conversion Guide, member newsletter articles, in-branch posters and banners, direct mail, email messages, statement messages and t-shirts worn by employees.
