Stepping up to alleviate mobile payment woes and to help speed up adoption, Cellpoint Mobile today announced new features available through mPoint, its sophisticated mobile payment system aimed at enterprises who wish to launch a full spectrum of mobile payment services.

Cellpoint Mobile's mPoint system contains a range of mobile payment options, all integrated into the overall structure of the Mobile Enterprise Framework (MEF), the company's innovative architectural framework that enables enterprises to mobilize existing backend systems, including legacy business applications. The MEF enables mPoint to interact with financial, billing and credit card clearing systems.

"mPoint is the key to connecting the enterprise with its customers when it comes to mobile payment," said Kristian Gjerding, CEO of Cellpoint Mobile. "The system is designed to leverage existing IT and financial applications, extending these to the mobile channel. Imagine the simplicity for the enterprise to sell its products via the preferred communication device, the mobile phone and ultimately its customers, the end user."

Among the new mPoint payment system features are one-click stored credit card transactions and automatic transaction analysis and settlement system -- a tool for use with micro payment services based on what is known as Premium SMS. It can also handle payments using credit based, coupon based and loyalty point-based transactions. In addition, the mPoint system is aggregator and carrier agnostic for use by anyone regardless of their service provider.

One-Click Mobile Phone Pay
Just as convenient as the 'one-click checkout' feature offered by some e-retailers, Cellpoint Mobile's one-click mobile phone pay allows companies to use stored credit card details for a speedy mobile payment transaction. Built into the mPoint system, the application empowers companies to transform the customer's mobile phone into a secure sales register. Customers who sign up for this service are simply asked to text a keyword to a short code, then enter their password to confirm the purchase and process the sale. The process saves time for both the merchant and the buyer as it eliminates the hassle of punching in or speaking the credit card number or swiping a card, presenting an ID and signing a receipt.

Premium SMS Analysis Tool
The system's new analysis tool is a built-in automated reporting and settlement application that allows companies to utilize mobile payment, such as premium SMS, as a fully integrated payment method. It also includes premium SMS auditing and consolidation capabilities. This means the mPoint system can provide detailed transaction information in standard formats, enabling existing financial systems to manage these payments as they would handle non-mobile payment methods (i.e., internet, direct deposit) are handled. Even more significant is that premium SMS transactions -- previously seen as a basic payment method used solely for digital content and by charities -- can now be considered a real payment method for sales of physical goods.

These payment transactions rely on an underlying architectural design and logic that is equipped to handle emerging mobile technologies, including NFC. This flexible and robust structure, provided by a combination of the MEF and mPoint, enables companies to extend payment systems into the mobile environment today.

Added Gjerding, "mPoint's new advanced features are what's missing from mobile payment structure today. With mPoint, we are seeing more enterprises embracing mobile payment and watching their bottom line increase."
