Citi has opened a 'business testing and parameter centre' in Poland to test banking applications before they are released to consumers in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The centre was established as part of the Citi Centre of Excellence (CoE) and will create up to 80 new jobs in Warsaw.

The facility is based within Citi's premises at 6 Goleszowska Street in Warsaw and delivers services to 10 countries in Citi's EMEA Consumer bank, including Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

Marc Luet, Citi Emea consumer CEO, comments: "We are...very pleased to locate the centre in Poland given the local talent, Citi's existing IT centres in Łódź, Olsztyn and Warsaw, and Citi Handlowy's rich history in the country."

In April, CoE's Operations Centre was created in Łódź to handle loan products, telephone customer service and provide technology services for the bank. Last year, Citi Handlowy's Research and Development Centre for Banking Products was created in the same city as part of the Innovative Economy Project co-funded by the European Union.
