Commonwealth Bank of Australia is to assign digital identities to its corporate customers under a five-year deal with bank-backed digital certification scheme IdenTrust.

Under the agreement, ComBiz customers will be given the option of using legally-binding IdenTrust digital signatures to authorise selected online banking transactions. IdenTrust will also provide certificate authority hosting services for the five-year contract.

Digital identities issued by the Australian bank will be recognised across the IdenTrust trust network, spanning banks and corporate customers in 175 countries.

The service will be rolled out to select ComBiz customers before the end of the year.
