Wachovia to establish call centre in Philippines

US banking group Wachovia is teaming with BPO vendor Genpact to open an offshore customer services call centre in the Philippines in early 2008.

According to press reports, the call centre will be mainly be staffed by Genpact employees and is being established to meet rising call volumes expected over the next five to seven years.

A bank spokesperson told reporters that Wachovia had no plans to close any of its 13 existing call centres in the US.

GenPact provides outsourcing and offshoring services to the banking and finance, insurance, manufacturing, transportation and business services sectors. Wachovia inked a deal with the BPO vendor in 2005 to establish an offshore outsourcing operation in India.
