Investment management and services group BNY Mellon has set up an innovation centre in Silicon Valley as it seeks to harness the power of big data, cloud computing and the Internet of Things.

Deutsche Bank is working with tech firms IBM, Microsoft and HCL Technologies on plans to open innovation labs around the world, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Visa is to open a new technology centre in Bangalore, India, next year with the aim of recruiting 1000 staff to work on APIs and software development kits by 2017.

Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) has introduced a 'Facebook branch', enabling customers to check their accounts and transfer funds from within the social network.
