NCR buys UK outfit NCI

US ATM manufacturer NCR has acquired NCI, a UK-based provider of teller connectivity software to financial institutions in North America and Europe. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 1990, London-based NCI provides branch automation applications that are used by banks to improve teller productivity and cut waiting times for customers in branches.

The firm's Teller Cash Connectivity application allows banks to instantly deploy cash dispensers and recyclers with with no software development. The suite also enables institutions to monitor transaction activity on the individual device and at a branch-wide level.

Bill Nuti, chairman and CEO, NCR, says the acquisition will make it easier for banking customers around the world to introduce and integrate branch automation technologies that can transform branch productivity and the customer experience

"Bringing NCI's expertise to NCR demonstrates our commitment to the teller automation market and underlines our intention to enhance NCR's total solution offer as we grow our assisted- and self-service business," he says.
