Bank of Ireland signs for Business Objects BI platform

Bank of Ireland (BoI) is rolling out business intelligence technology from SAP subsidiary Business Objects.

SAP says Business Objects XI Release 3.0 will enable the bank to easily access, analyse and distribute information throughout the company and quickly respond to market events.

The vendor says BoI required a rapid, secure way to bring together SAP and non-SAP data in one place and increase the outflow of information to employees.

The Business objects platform, along with SAP's enterprise resource planning application and SAP for Banking suite, will provide executives and managers with improved insight into the bank's business performance whilst minimising risk.

Vincent Lattimore, manager, IT procurement services, BoI, says: "The Business Objects business intelligence platform has the functionality to support both our current and future information needs - and empowers our executives with the information they need to improve day-to-day decision making."

John Schwarz, CEO, Business Objects and member of executive board, SAP, adds: "Combining Business Objects solutions with SAP solutions helps our joint customers, like Bank of Ireland, ensure that strategy and execution are intimately linked and enables customers to optimize their business performance in a closed-loop solution."

BoI already uses SAP's Business Suite to manage business processes - including finance, human resources and procurement - and SAP's Bank Analyzer applications to support Basel II compliance.

Germany's SAP acquired Paris-based Business Objects earlier this year in a deal worth around EUR4.8 billion.
