China Industrial Bank (CIB) has rolled out voice trading technology supplied by Orange Business Services across its new trading floor in Shanghai.
Orange Business Services - Trading Solutions says that CIB has replaced standard private automatic branch exchange (PABX) phones with 70 Etrali Mach 3D turrets which will be used for foreign exchange, investment business and capital fund trading on behalf of the bank's customers.
The Etrali Mach 3D platform includes built-in dual support for time division multiplexing (TDM) and VoIP technology.
CIB says the rapid increase in China's financial business in areas such as FX, wealth management and RMB wealth management meant that it needed a powerful dealing phone system to support growing business needs.
At the same time the bank took the opportunity of setting up a new dealing room in Shanghai and upgrading from standard phones to Mach 3D turrets.
Commenting on the implementation, Henri Vautheny, MD, Asia Pacific, Orange Business Services - Trading Solutions, says: "Initially CIB intends to employ TDM technology. However, CIB can migrate to VoIP very easily at any time in the future. One of the features that CIB particularly liked was that they could upgrade their network in the future without having to change their turrets and with minimal disruption to the traders."
