E-commerce in the fixed income markets

Source:

Electronic trading in the fixed income markets continued to mature and consolidate in 2003 says the Bond Market Association in its annual survey of electronic dealing platforms.

This report catalogues and describes all systems that allow dealers or institutional investors to buy or sell fixed-income products electronically.
In all, the BMA identified 77 electronic, fixed-income trading systems operating in the US and Europe in late 2003 versus 81 in 2002 and 11 in 1997. Of the 77, 46 are based principally in the US and 31 are based principally in Europe.
The continued growth in the use of online trading platforms has resulted in a well-established core group of systems, says the BMA. Weaker platforms continued to exit the space, while only three new systems came online.
