The Finextra Innovation Showcase is a new development for 2009 seeking to bring together a definitive list of which organisations are leading innovation in the financial industry. Finextra is calling for submissions on new and innovative products/services/projects in the areas of:
- Authentication and security
- Payments
- Financial markets trading
- Risk management
- Retail channel delivery
- Wholesale channel delivery
- Financial messaging/connectivity
- Transaction processing
- Energy efficiency and green IT
The final showcase, to be published on Finextra.com and promoted across the site from the February 2nd, 2009, will contain a listing and a short editorial from the Finextra team on no more than FIVE of the most innovative entrants in each category, although it is entirely possible that some categories might see fewer submissions that meet the criteria.
The product/service/project must be:
- New or significantly upgraded in 2008.
- Clearly different to other products/services/approaches that are widely deployed in the market
A project could be developed/managed in-house by a financial institution, but must at least be in trial phase with internal/external customers. If the innovation is from a vendor/service provider then it should be at least in a trial or pilot within a financial institution, if not fully deployed.
The entrant must demonstrate innovation in:
- Support for a new way of working, a new business model or new customer engagement model in the financial industry
- Application of newer information technologies, for e.g. but not limited to:
- Web 2.0 / rich internet application technologies
- Semantic information management
- SOA and Web services
- Near-field communication (NFC)
- Advanced cryptography
- Or a unique combination or application of more established technologies
