New research into financial control and regulatory reporting has found that lack of control, poor internal communications and shorter reporting timescales are the key challenges facing finance departments.

The findings of the survey, commissioned by Business Control Solutions, show that finance departments are facing tough times with numerous disparate systems, error-prone manual processes and more time spent crunching the numbers rather than analysing them. Increasing time is spent on month-end procedures, with balance sheet substantiation taking up an average of 7.2 days of departmental time each month.
