Banking Mashup

One last thing - In memoriam Steve Jobs

As excited that I was writing about the upcoming Apple event on the 4th of October, as sad am I to hear the news, today, the 5th of October.

Others have written about the impact Steve Jobs has had on banking, but to be honest, that's marginal to the impact he has had on our lives. I checked Barclays, ING, Merill Lynch, BNP, Dexia (oh yes, they have some other news), but nada, nothing, no recoginition. Contrast that with Google, presumed archrival number one and their way of paying respect, simple but powerful (see image).

At his famous Stanford's commencement address speech in 2005 he said: "No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new."

Isn't it time to apply this to banking as well, so that at last his legacy will be complete?

It started off 10 inches high, beige-ish, with a small screen and ended up 10 inches wide, black-ish, with a small screen, but what a ride it has been.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs
