CRD IV - EBA confirms more reporting requirements

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published additional questions and answers (Q&As) on the Capital Requirements Directive and Regulation (CRD IV) under the single rulebook.

In respect of reporting the EBA has confirmed that:

  • additional or more frequent reporting can be required by competent authorities including reporting on capital and liquidity provisions - Qn 175;
  • the competent authority can determine the content, frequency and reporting dates of FINREP by institutions at a solo level – Qn 197; and
  • assets issued by an investment firm, insurance undertaking or other entities are not considered as liquid assets unless certain specific conditions are met – Qn 222.

 Further topics that have been covered in the new Q&As are:

  • the treatment of non-grandfathered amount of bonds (Qn 47);
  • firm shorts covered by client longs (Qn 185);
  • inclusion of incurred (IFRS) credit valuation adjustment in the internal ratings based provision shortfall calculation (Qn 245); and
  • the meaning of Article 79 (b) of the CRD IV regarding credit and counterparty risk (Qn 249).
