Managing the diverse communications landscape

You’re a CIO or senior financial manager in a typical multi-national enterprise. You probably have thousands of staff across multiple geographies using a vast array of mobile voice and data devices.  And if that’s not enough, they’ll all be supplied by a variety of different providers.

So, how to manage this diverse communications landscape?  A recent survey found this was one of the biggest pain points facing large corporates, yet for many their vision of success in effectively tackling this problem was limited to managing telephony expenditure.

Yet there are technologies and applications around that enable huge, complex multi-nationals to go so much further.  And today’s reality is that enterprise businesses increasingly have a need for a wide variety of different services to meet individual points of stress.

Do you want to be able to implement integrated corporate security and applications polices across your whole estate?  Device management solutions exist to let you do this.  Want to be able to select and order new devices on your in-house system via a pre-defined catalogue?  Not a problem.  Keen to go even further and completely hand over the ‘cradle to grave’ management of your entire fleet to a trusted third party provider?  That’s possible too.

From a telecoms expense management tool right up to a fully-managed global solution, businesses can now access affordable, easy to implement answers to almost any communications question.

So for many businesses, it’s time to take the blinkers off.  Don’t assume the answer is ‘no’ before you’ve asked the question.  And, what’s more, with the right provider the chances are that they’ll not only find an effective way to solve your problem, but also save you more money along the way than you expected.

Having observed up close the trials and tribulations that a company went through in working out a unified BlackBerry contract for its employees across 8-10 countries in Europe - each with its own language and local clauses - your solution sounds interesting.
