Sparda Bank Hamburg live with Nuance speech recognition system

Sparda Bank Hamburg has gone live with a voice-activated telephone banking solution from California speech technology firm Nuance.

Nuance developed the German language system with its partner SemanticEdge. The software currently automates more than 50,000 customer service calls per month.

The system replaces a touchtone menu and provides customers with more than 50 voice-activated services, including bill pay, ATM locator and account status information.

Heinz Wings, CEO of Sparda Bank Hamburg, says: "Speech seemed the obvious answer for our customer service. We feel that speech recognition has modernised our business."
